I recorded this live at Hotel Utah on April 15th 2008. I recorded the sound right off the sound board and blended that with the sound from the camera.

The only track I was ever lucky enough to have made with the legendary Joel Starr. When Joel passed away, I wanted people to hear the song and so put this video together very quickly. Thanks to Vega, Ravi and to Disco Doctor (Byran Golder) for mastering the audio.

I wanted to do a raw recording of this for the internet.

I went for a walk down by the Embarcadero and noticed some Cherry Blossoms in full bloom at the park. As I got closer, I noticed that some of the Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill had found these delicious Cherry Blossoms. I thought how bizarre: I don’t think Parrots usually live in climates where Cherry Blossoms grow. It seemed like a beautifully rare phenomenon I was witnessing. So, with my phone, I recorded the Parrots, the trees, and the pedals falling down on me. After seeing how pixelated the resulting video was, I decided to work with the pixelation to make an impressionistic piece. Perhaps this is how it would have looked from the perspective of a fly, with it’s compound eyes, perched on my arm. So I recorded some musical improvisations based on my impression of the video. I recorded the water sounds with my field recorder during a hike in Washington state.
